SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Missouri State women's soccer team put on quite a show with a 2-0 victory over visiting Creighton in the first-ever event held at the new Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium. MSU and former MVC foe Creighton agreed to play three 30 periods.

"I thought we were pretty sharp after the first few minutes," said head coach Rob Brewer. "I was pretty happy with the performance in our first outing. Our goalkeeping was solid tonight as well. The newcomers did well which is a good sign."

The Bears got on the board early as Molly Brewer scored the first goal in the new stadium. In the fifth minute of play, she got a pass from Rachel Catrell and deked past the Bluejays keeper to score the open-net goal.

In the second period, Kristina Tomaras doubled the MSU advantage. In the 59th minute of action, she found some space on the left side and dribbled to within 25 yards before sending a long strike into the upper corner of the net over the CU keeper.

Goalkeepers Jessica Perry and Laura Ketzer split time in net and combined for the shutout. Perry made three saves including a deflection off the post in the first period. Ketzer recorded four saves and also made a diving save of her own, coming in the second period.

Missouri State concludes the exhibition slate when they host crosstown foe Drury at 8:00 p.m. on Monday (August 18). The Bears open the regular season in Kansas City on August 22 with a 7:00 p.m. tilt against UMKC. MSU will face Utah State at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday August 24 in the first regular season match at the new stadium.
