At Missouri State: Carloline Sweeney returns to Missouri State for her senior campaign after scoring two goals in 18 starts for the Bears' 2007 squad. 2007: Sweeney recorded 30 shots in her junior season with two goals, including one game-winner against Western Michigan (8/31). 2006: Sweeney led the Bears in points (20), goals (9), and game-winning goals (3) in her first season with the team, earning All-MVC honorable mention. In her first match as a Bear, Sweeney scored two goals, including the game winner in double overtime, to lead MSU to a 3-2 victory over Arkansas (8/25). Sweeney scored both Missouri State goals, including the game winner in overtime, to again propel the Bears to a 2-1 victory over Alabama A&M (9/8). The performance earned her MVC Offensive Player of the Week and Lady Razorback All-Tournament team honors. In a 7-1 victory over Northern Iowa (10/1), Sweeney became only the fourth player in school history to record a hat trick, scoring three goals to tie a single-match school record. Sweeney also netted the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win over Eastern Illinois (9/17). Her impressive debut season put Sweeney in the MSU record books, as she finished tied for third in game winners, fourth in shots with 55, tied for fourth in goals, and fifth in points in a single-season school history. She also finished tied for third in the MVC in game-winning goals, fourth in goals, fifth in points, and sixth in shots. Background: Sweeney transferred to Missouri State prior to the start of the 2006 season after playing for one season at Saint Louis University. As a freshman at Saint Louis, Sweeney played in 18 matches and finished with eight points on three goals and two assists. One of her goals was a game winner for the Billikens. As a prep star at Saint Thomas Aquinas, Sweeney was named the Kansas City Metro Player of the Year, was an NSCAA All-American, and the Eastern Kansas League offensive player of the year as a senior. Sweeney led the Saints to the Kansas 6A state championship in her senior campaign. As a junior, her team finished as the state runners-up. Personal: Caroline is the daughter of John and Sara Sweeney and was born Sept. 18, 1986.
