At Missouri State: Shelby Stewart is a speedy option for the Bears upfront or on the backline.

2011: Stewart appeared in the final 18 matches of the season and started on two occasions. Her four goals were second on the team. She scored her first goal at Arkansas (9/6) to seal a 2-0 win. Two games later, she scored the game-winner against Oral Roberts (9/11). Stewart added her second game-winner of the season in overtime at SIUE (10/9). She tallied another goal in the home finale against UNI (10/27). Stewart's assist came on the game-winning goal against Drake (10/7).

2010: Stewart appeared in 18 of the Bears' 19 matches. She doled out three assists on the year, good for third-most on the team. She registered assists on game-winning goals in back-to-back matches against UMKC (9/26) and Indiana State (10/1).

Background: Stewart was a starting forward for head coach Clint Nurnberg for the past three seasons. She was named to the all-district and all-conference squads all three seasons. Stewart was named the Female Prep Athlete of the Year by the Springfield News-Leader in 2010. During her junior campaign, Stewart registered 25 goals and 11 assists to earn first-team all-region and second-team All-Ozarks accolades along with being named to the West Plains all-tournament team. Stewart has played at forward for the Vikings' basketball team where she earned MVP honors her senior season. She was also a member of the track and field squad.

Personal: Stewart is the daughter of Howard and Christy Stewart and was born August 9, 1991. She is majoring in sociology at Missouri State. Both of Stewart's parents, Howard and Christy, and one brother, Aaron, have attended Missouri State.
