Missouri State women's soccer senior Jessica Roberts spent this past summer helping the less fortunate in Uganda, Africa and coaching youth teams in Guatemala.

At Missouri State: Roberts gives the Bears a physical presence and hopes to contribute at midfield.
2012: Roberts returned from injury to record an assist in her first appearance of the season against UALR (8/17). She appeared in 10 matches, starting three times. She tallied her lone shot of the season at Drake (9/22).
2011: Roberts appeared in three games, registering one shot before a season-ending injury forced a redshirt season.
2010: Roberts played in 17 matches for the Bears getting the starting nod on 10 occasions. Her 16 shots taken were seventh-best on the team. She recorded a season-high three shots on Aug. 29 against UT Martin.
Background: Roberts came to Missouri State after spending 2009 at the Illinois Institute of Technology. She scored three goals and added four assists for head coach Lee Hitchen. She started 10 matches and played in 17 at IIT. Roberts' prep career included one season at Springfield's Kickapoo High before transferring to Mountain Grove. During her freshman campaign at Kickapoo, she led her squad to the conference and district title and a state sectional appearance. Roberts also played for Springfield Soccer Club. She was a three-year member of the track and field team once at Mountain Grove, where she held the 300-meter hurdle school record for three years.
Personal: Roberts is the daughter of Mike and Lynda Matthews and was born August 23, 1991. She is an exercise and movement science major at Missouri State.
