Freshman Brooke Zimmerman scores the first goal at Allison South Stadium
2014: Zimmerman started all 19 matches in her first year at MSU. She netted three goals and added three assists, tied for third on the team with nine points. She played 1,568 minutes in 2014, the second-most on the team. Zimmerman inked her named in the MSU annals as she scored the first-ever goal at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium, the game-winner versus Utah State (8/22). Her first career assist came later in the match against the Aggies. She added her second game-winner in as many home matches with a 13th minute goal in a 3-0 win over Arkansas State (9/7). Zimmerman assisted on the overtime game-winning goal against Loyola in the final home match of the season (10/25). She scored a goal in the 73rd minute of the regular season finale at UNI (10/30). She recorded an assist in the MVC Tournament semifinals at Illinois State (11/7). Zimmerman’s solid and versatile play was rewarded with a selection to the MVC All-Freshman team.
Background: Zimmerman started and lettered four seasons at Blue Valley High for head coach K. Dean Snell. She earned first-team all-state and All-EKL as a second-year team captain her senior season while tallying 10 assists to tie for second in school history. Her junior season, Zimmerman tallied nine assists while earning first-team all-state, all-region and all-conference honors. Her BVHS squad was ranked 13th nationally in 2013. As a sophomore, she picked up first-team all-region and all-conference accolades along with an all-state honorable mention selection. Zimmerman recorded six assists as a freshman and led the Tigers to a Class 5A regional title. She has a three-star rating on Top Drawer Soccer. Zimmerman plays for Sporting Blue Valley Soccer Club which is ranked 3rd nationally and has qualified for the Elite Club National League national championship in 2014. The squad won the ECNL Midwest Conference Championship in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Personal: Zimmerman is the daughter of Duane and Barb Zimmerman and was born March 9, 1996. She is undecided on a major at Missouri State.
