2014: Opfer played in all 19 matches with 18 starts on the season. She scored two goals, the first of her career, and her 20 shots were tied for the third-most on the team. Opfer racked up 1,538 minutes, the third-most among the Bears in 2014. She netted her first career goal at Oral Roberts (8/31), an equalizer in the 84th minute in an eventual draw. Opfer scored a goal in the MVC Tournament semifinal at Illinois State (11/7) and was named to the MVC All-Tournament as a result. Her stellar play throughout the season earned Opfer All-MVC honorable mention accolades. Off the pitch, Opfer was bestowed academic honors by the MVC and NSCAA.
2013: Opfer was a rock at center back for MSU, starting all 19 matches and playing all 1,821 minutes. She contributed to the Bears five shutouts and team goals against average of 1.19. Opfer provided a disrupting presence in the box on set pieces and tallied four shots on the year. She had one shot on goal, coming in the match at Loyola (10/5). She was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete honorable mention team following the season.
2012: Opfer was valiant on the backline in her first season with MSU, logging the most minutes played by a non-senior (1,555 minutes). She was vital to the Bears’ home shutout streak, not allowing a goal in 685 minutes at home. She also racked up seven shots, including three against Evansville (9/30) and Indiana State (10/25) each. Her .714 shots on goal percentage was best among players with more than one shot on frame. Her solid first season led to an MVC All-Freshman team honor.
Background: Opfer was a four-year starter and letterwinner for head coach Jeff Rogers and the Glendale Falcons, where she scored 31 career goals and added 23 assists. As a senior, she was State Defensive, Regional and District Player of the Year and was an all-state, all-region, all-conference, all-district and all-Ozarks first teamer. She was also named to the academic all-conference team for a GHS squad that reached the quarterfinals at state. She led her team to regional, district and conference titles as a team captain her junior year. She was named regional and district defensive MVP and earned all-conference, all-district, all-region and all-Ozarks first team honors, while being named to the all-state second team. Her sophomore campaign saw her earn all-conference and all-district second team laurels along with Glendale Varsity MVC honors. Opfer was a second-team all-conference, all-district and all-Ozarks selection while leading her team to conference, district and regional titles as a freshman. She also played four years on the Glendale volleyball team.
Personal: Opfer is the daughter of Scott and Tracy Opfer and was born July 9, 1993. Her father, Scott, played football and her mother, Tracy, competed in gymnastics at Winona State. She is a dietetics major at MSU.
