Bears' Hinton earns Valley honor for third time in three tournaments
Missouri State's Sally Hinton continued the strong start to her senior season by setting a pair of school scoring marks in the Oral Roberts Shootout this past Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 2-3) and she has been recognized by the Missouri Valley Conference for her efforts.
Hinton has been named the league's Golfer of the Week for the third time this season, sharing the honor with Josie Lowder of Southern Illinois. Hinton fired 78-72-69--219 at ORU, breaking the MSU standards for best 18- and 54-hole scores in the process, and finishing in second place. She previously won the season-opening Hawkeye Intercollegiate in Iowa City and the Chip-N-Club Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. Lowder was medalist at the Northern Illinois Huskie Classic.
The Bridgnorth, England, native paced the Bears to an eight-stroke victory in which they shot 312-305-296--913 to top a 14-team field.
