Women's Golf Heads to Golfweek Conference Challenge
The Missouri State women's golf team is one of 18 teams selected to play in the 2010 Golfweek Conference Challenge in Vail, Colo. The 54-hole tournament tees off Sunday (Sept. 26) at 10 a.m. MST at Red Sky Golf Club with 18 holes contested each day Sunday through Tuesday.
One team from each of the top 18 collegiate athletic conferences in the country was selected to compete in the prestigious tournament, which features 12 teams ranked in the top 50 nationally a year ago and six in the top 25. Other teams in the field include Arizona, Campbell, Virginia, Texas A&M, Minnesota, Sacramento State, Coastal Carolina, UC Davis, Tulane, Tennessee, Harvard, UNLV, Chattanooga, Central Arkansas, Denver, San Jose State and Pepperdine.
"It's truly an honor to be included in this field and represent the Missouri Valley Conference. It's also a great opportunity to go head-to-head against some of the best teams in the nation and showcase our program," said Bears' coach Kevin Kane. "Red Sky (Golf Club) is a great course in a spectacular part of the country and it's a great field. Other than an NCAA Regional, this is as strong a field as we'll play in, so we're looking forward to the challenge."
MSU's lineup for the tournament will include juniors Catherine Dolan and Kelsey Welber, sophomores Emma Clegg and Hermine Greyling, and freshman Rikke Falsner.
