Missouri State Standout Catherine Dolan Qualifies for U.S. Amateur

Catherine Dolan, the 2009 Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Year, has qualified for the United States Women's Amateur Golf Championship next month in suburban St. Louis.  Dolan fired a two-over-par 73 at Missouri Bluffs Golf Club in St. Charles, Mo., Monday (July 13) and was one of eight competitors in the 67-player field to earn a spot in the Amateur.

The tournament will be held Aug. 3-9 at Old Warson Country Club in Ladue, Mo., opening with 36 holes of stroke play with the top 64 qualifiers advancing to match play.  Dolan, who is from nearby Ballwin, Mo., will be one of 156 players in the field.

Dolan was an all-conference selection in her freshman season for the Bears, led the team and ranked fourth in the Valley in scoring average with four top-10 finishes.
