MSU's Anthony qualifies for U.S. Women's Public Links

Missouri State's Jillian Anthony shot a 76 last Thursday (May 31) at a United States Golf Association qualifier in suburban St. Louis to earn a spot in the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship later this month in Lexington, Ky.  Anthony, a Springfield native and Kickapoo High graduate, will be a senior next season for the Bears.

She finished second among 13 players in the field at Algonquin Golf Club In Glendale, Mo., and was one of three players to earn a spot in the national championship, which will be held June 18-23 at Kearney Hill Links.  The tournament format features two days of stroke play, followed by match play for the low 64 qualifiers.

In a field dominated by collegiate players, Marci Turner, who will be a senior at Tennessee, took medalist honors with a 72.  Kansas sophomore-to-be Emily Powers took the final spot with a 79 while Drury's Tonya Choate is the first alternate after shooting 81.
