MSU's Clegg Honored by Valley for Academic Work

Missouri State senior Emma Clegg has been named to the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete Team for the 2012-13 season.
Clegg received honorable mention a year ago and is one of six student-athletes who were recognized on the first team following a vote of the MVC sports information directors.
A native of England, Clegg has compiled a 3.84 grade-point average while majoring in Geography. She also was named an All-American Scholar the past two seasons by the National Golf Coaches Association.
On the course, Clegg earned all-conference honors this past season after ranking third in the conference and recording a 77.93 scoring average.
She was joined on the first team by Katie Jean of Illinois State; Indiana State's Emily Dixon; Bradley's Thea Hedemann; Drake's Hadley Jennings; and Southern Illinois' Cassie Rushing.
Honorable mention selections include Celeste Gassman of Creighton, Shaina Rennegarbe of Southern Illinois, Amanda Smith of Indiana State, and Hollie Weatherburn of Wichita State.
MVC scholar-athlete nominees must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale), while the student-athletes must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institutions and must have participated in at least 50 percent of his team's rounds or played at the MVC Championship.
