Bears Slip to Finish 13th at UALR

The Missouri State women's golf team finished 13th at the UALR Classic on Tuesday (Mar. 27) after posting 300-308-307--915 at Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs, Ark. The Bears slipped in the standings in each round, standing fourth after the opening 18 holes and ninth after 36 before slipping four places in the final round.

Senior Catherine Dolan was the top finisher for the Bears, shooting 73-73-76--222 to tie for ninth. Senior Kelsey Welber was next for MSU in a tie for 30th after carding 72-77-78--227, with Hermine Greyling next with a 49th-place finish after shooting 79-80-73--232. Emma Clegg recorded 76-79-80--235 for 62nd place and freshman Chiara Citterio shot 79-79-84--242. Freshman Megan Thompson tied for 28th playing as an individual by posting 79-74-73--226. Karisa Akin of Middle Tennessee won medalist honors with 74-70-71--215, one under par.

UTEP rallied to capture the team title, shooting a final-round 293 to finish with 897 and edge Tulsa (898) by a shot and Middle Tennessee and Eastern Michigan (899) by two. UALR and Oral Roberts (900) were just another stroke back in fifth. North Texas (907) was seventh, followed by ULM (909), Arkansas State (910) and Troy (912) rounding out the top 10.

Then came Samford (913), UMKC (914), the Bears, Ball State (918), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (927), Wichita State (931), Central Arkansas (932), Northern Colorado (938) and Northern Iowa (944).

 

 

The Bears are idle the next two weeks before returning to action April 14-15 at the Indiana Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.
