Women's Golf Seventh After First Day in Memphis

The Missouri State women's golf team is seventh after 36 holes at the FedEx Memphis Intercollegiate in Memphis, Tenn. The Bears shot 321-318--639 on Monday (Oct. 22) to slip into the top half of the 14-team field.
Samford will take a commanding lead into Tuesday's final round after shooting 606 in Monday's action at the par 71, 6150-yard Ridgeway Country Club. Xavier is second at 622, followed by Central Arkansas (623), Louisiana-Monroe (624), Redlands C.C. (626), Memphis (627), the Bears, Sam Houston State (644), Montana (647) and UAB (649) rounding out the top 10.
Marshall is 11th at 651, with Stephen F. Austin, 12th (659); Drury, 13th (665); and Lewis, 14th (688).
Sophomore Chiara Citterio led the way for the Bears, battling windy conditions and hard, fast greens for 79-79--158 and a tie for 18th place. Senior Emma Clegg and freshman Ariel Tidwell are tied for 25th with 159 totals; Clegg shot 80-79 and Tidwell 82-77. Freshman Lindsey Eisenreich carded 89-83 and sophomore Megan Thompson had 80 in the first round before being forced to withdraw due to injury. Natalie Mitchell of Samford leads the field entering the final round at 71-74--145.
Tuesday action is slated for an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start.
