Bears, Clegg Finish Second at Stewart Memorial

The Missouri State women's golf team finished second Tuesday (Oct. 16) by two shots at its own Payne Stewart Memorial in Springfield, Mo.
The Bears entered the final round trailing Arkansas-Little Rock by seven and posted 297 to go with 298-302 on Monday for a team total of 897 at Rivercut Golf Course. UALR shot 298-295-302--895 to claim the title.
Individually, Emelie Westrup of UALR fired a final-round two-under-par 70 to edge MSU senior Emma Clegg by a single stroke for medalist honors. Westrup shot 76-72-70--218 compared to Clegg's 71-73-75--219, the best outing of her collegiate career.
Freshman Lindsey Eisenreich took third place for MSU, carding 76-75-72--223, while sophomore Megan Thompson had 76-77-73--226 to finish eighth. Freshman Ariel Tidwell tied for 17th with 75-78-77--230 and senior Hermine Greyling tied for 33rd after posting 79-77-81--237
Sophomore Chiara Citterio, playing as an individual, carded 79-78-78--235 to tie for 27th with freshman Megan Furnish finishing 38th with 83-77-78--238. Senior Amy Bowen shot 90-90-90--270 and placed 88th.
In the team race, Oral Roberts finished third with 909, followed by Wichita State (920), Oklahoma City (925), Nebraska (934), UMKC (935), Indiana State (951), Drake (954) and Valparaiso (960) rounding out the top 10.
Drury placed 11th (971), then came Nebraska-Omaha (974), Creighton (990), South Dakota (1022) and Rockhurst (1029).
Up next for the Bears is the Tiger Fall Invitational in Memphis, Tenn., next Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 22-23).
