Rain, Darkness Slow Down MSU/Payne Stewart Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Missouri State women's golf team and the sixteen other school competing at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial were only able to record the first 18 holes on Monday, due to darkness and light rain.
Golfers were two to three holes shy of completing the scheduled 36, and will pick up Tuesday morning before playing the final round.
The Bears finished the first round in seventh place overall with a team score of 311 on the par 72 - 6082. Oral Roberts leads the field at the Rivercut Golf Course, scoring 298 plus-eight over the first round. Rounding out the top of the field are Wichita State (297), Southern Illinois (300), North Dakota State (303), Arkansas-Little Rock (306), Northern Iowa (308), and Missouri State.
Individually, four Missouri State golfers finished in the top twenty, led by Megan Furnish's 74, plus-2, which puts her in a three way tie for tenth. Furnish is not scoring towards the Bears team total in the tournament.
Estefania Acosta finished tied for thirteenth, after carding 75, 3-over in the opening round. Rounding out the MSU side is Megan Thompson (76, 4-over), Ariel Tidwell and Lindsey Eisenreich (80, 8-over), and Chiara Citterio (85, 13-over)
Weather permitting, all teams will pick up where they left off and finish round two and continue into round three with a Tuesday 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
