COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Missouri State women's golf team put together its best round of the Johnie Imes Invitational on Tuesday (Oct. 2) as the Bears' top four scorers either tied or recorded their lowest total of the two-day tournament in the final 18 holes.
Among the 19-team field, Missouri State finished in a three-way tie for 13th place with UMKC and Colorado State, recording a 309-314-307--930. SMU took home the team title registering a 297-284-295--876 and was just 12-over-par collectively.
For the second event in-a-row, veteran Emma Clegg led the way for Missouri State. The senior from Blackburn, Lancashire, England carded a 75-76-75--226 and tied for 27th in the individual standings.
Right behind Clegg was freshman Ariel Tidwell, who has turned in a solid performance in back-to-back tournaments. Tidwell played her best round of golf on Tuesday with a 2-over-par 74, which included four birdies. She finished in a six-way tie for 30th after posting a 77-76-74--227.
Sophomore Chiara Citterio tied for 69th out of 99 participants. The Milan, Italy native carded an 81-79-79--239 at the A.L. Gustin Golf Course.
Freshman Megan Furnish made her tournament debut this week and finished in a tie for 78th. Furnish finished the invitational with her best round of golf, posting an 81-83-79--243.
Two weeks from now, the Bears will be at home to host the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial, Oct. 15-16. Tee times are set for 8:30 a.m. on both days.
