Missouri State is in second place, one shot back, after the first day of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship in Terre Haute, Ind. The Bears fired 300 on Sunday (Apr. 22) and trail only Northern Iowa on a tightly-packed top of the leaderboard.

UNI carded 299 at the Country Club of Terre Haute to grab the top spot, while Bradley and defending champion Illinois State are tied for third at 305. Wichita State is fifth at 311, with host Indiana State and Southern Illinois tied for sixth with 313. Drake is eighth with 323, Evansville ninth at 327 and Creighton tenth with 337.

The Bears have three players in the top 10 after 18 holes, led by senior Catherine Dolan and junior Emma Clegg, who each carded two-over-par 74 and are tied for third place. Senior Kelsey Welber is tied for sixth after posting a 75, while junior Hermine Greyling is 16th with a 77 and freshman Megan Thompson 25th at 79. UNI's Katie Tabbert leads after shooting an even-par 72.

A predicted overnight frost has pushed the starting time for Monday's second round back to 10:30 a.m. EDT, with the first MSU players teeing off at 11:20 a.m. The 54-hole tournament will conclude Tuesday with the final 18 holes.
