IU Invitational Complete Results
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Junior Hermine Greyling made the most out of the shortened Indiana University Invitational on Sunday (April 15). Due to weather conditions at the IU Golf Course, the tournament was shortened to an 18-hole event, with all but two or three of the holes played on Sunday.
Greyling's 2-over 74 was just one shot off of the leaders, who had a three-hole playoff for the individual title. The 74 was good enough for a fifth-place tie in the field of 87 golfers. The Cape Town, South Africa native was the only Bears' golfer to finish inside the tournament's top 20. It marked the second time this season that the junior has placed as Missouri State's top finisher. Greyling won the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial on Oct. 18.
In the team standings, the Bears finished tied for ninth with Western Michigan and UMKC. Other Missouri Valley Conference schools that were in attendance for the tournament included Illinois State (t-6th), Bradley (t-6th) and Evansville (14th).
Behind Greyling, Megan Thompson recorded a 79 for 43rd place. Catherine Dolan was tied for 51st with an 81, while Emma Clegg finished six spots back with an 82. Rounding out the lineup was Kelsey Welber, who notched an 83 and tied for 66th place.
Playing as an individual, freshman Chiara Citterio shot a 78 which ranked as the second best score among Bear golfers on Sunday.
Missouri State returns to action next weekend (April 22-24) with the MVC Championship, held this year in Terre Haute, Ind.
