Bears Picked to Repeat at Valley Golf Championship

The MVC coaches have made MSU a narrow pick to repeat as conference champs.

Fall 2012: One of two MSU seniors, she stepped up and became the team's top player, finishing in the team's top two in all five tournaments ... Compiled a 76.33 scoring average, which led the team and placed her third in the Missouri Valley Conference ... Recorded her best collegiate performance at the Payne Stewart Memorial, where she finished second by a stroke and shot a career-best 71-73-75--219 for 54 holes ... Also led the Bears at the Golfweek Conference Challenge (77-76-77--230, T44th) and Johnie Imes Invitational (75-76-75--226, T27th) ... Opened the season with a tie for 15th at Nebraska, firing 76-78-79--233 ... Ended the fall by shooting 80-79-78--237 and tying for 24th at Memphis...Earned her first Valley Golfer of the Week honor after her performance at the Stewart Memorial.

2011-12: Continued as a reliable member of MSU's top five, playing in every tournament while averaging 78.06 in 32 rounds, with all but two in the 70s ... Ranked fourth on the team and 13th in the league in scoring average ... Named an All-American Scholar by the National Golf Coaches Association and a Valley Scholar-Athlete for her work in the classroom ... Posted 77-77-79--233 to tie for 18th in the season opener at Nebraska ... Finished 27th at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational by shooting 76-81-77--234 and followed with 78-75-77--230 the next week at the Johnie Imes ... Opened the spring with a solid 13th at the Rio Verde Invitational, carding 77-77-73--227 ... Posted a top-10 finish and clutch performance down the stretch to help secure the team's MVC Championship, shooting a one-under-par 35 on the back nine of the final round as the Bears notched a three-shot win; tied for 10th with 74-80-75--229 ... Placed 20th at Monterey Bay at 79-78-80--237 ... Shot 77-82-79--238 at the NCAA Regional in Erie, Colo.

2010-11: Became a regular member of the Bears' traveling squad, playing in all 11 tournaments and ranking fourth on the team with a 79.39 scoring average ... Recorded 20 of her 31 rounds in the 70's, with her low of 73 coming at the Jackrabbit Invitational ... Posted her then-best 54-hole total of 225 at the Jackrabbit, shooting 75-73-77 ... Placed 14th at the Jackrabbit and Missouri Valley Conference Championship, where she carded 79-76--155 ... Finished the year ranked 15th in the Missouri Valley Conference by Golfstat ... Opened the year with her then-best college finish, a tie for 19th, at the Redbird Invitational by posting 81-79-78--238; concluded the fall with another tie for 19th at the Memphis Invitational, carding 79-77--156 ... Notched 79-78-80--237 and a tie for 61st at the Johnie Imes Invitational ... Placed 42nd at Baylor in the spring after recording 79-78-79--236.

2009-10: Played in five tournaments in her first year with the Bears, averaging 79.9 in14 rounds, eight of them in the 70s ... Shot a consistent 80-79-79--238 at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial to place 41st in her first collegiate action ... Enjoyed her best collegiate tournament to open the spring, placing 30th in a field of 172 players and second on the team at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate, where she carded 79-73-75--227 ... Tied for 52nd at the Rio Verde Invitational with 79-78-81--238...Also shot 79-84--163 to tie for 24th at the Drury Shootout.

Background: A three-time Lancashire Schools Champion who placed third at the Lancashire Girls' Championship in 2008 ... Won the Northeast Region of the Faldo Junior Series and went on to finish third in the Scotland and Northeast England final ... Also reached the quarterfinals of the Lancashire Ladies Championship and advanced to the championship flight of the 2008 English Girls' Championship.
