CLEVELAND – Missouri State field hockey senior Hillary Lawless (St. Louis, Mo.) and sophomore Charlie Redhead (Norfolk, England) were named to the All-Mid-American Conference second team, the league office announced Thursday (Nov. 7).
Lawless – who was a first-team all-MAC pick in 2012 – finished her senior campaign among the conference’s top 10 players in a number of categories, including shots (35), goals (6), and points per game (0.81). Lawless also chipped in a defensive save in 2013, the first of her career.
The fourth-year star finished her Missouri State career in fifth place on the school’s all-time points list (73), and tied for eighth place on the list in assists (15) with Bears head coach Gabby Gomez Sosa.
In her second year at Missouri State, Redhead posted career highs in goals and assists (2), points (6), shots (12) and shot percentage (.167). The all-conference honor is the first for the MSU midfielder, who continued to be a solid presence for the Bears by consistently distributing the ball to her teammates. Redhead was credited with an assist on Holly Scherer’s game-winning goal at Saint Louis on Oct. 15.
