The Bears are 9-16-0 all-time against Ball State, but have won three of the last four contests versus the Cardinals. Missouri State defeated Ball State in Muncie, Ind. last year by a 4-2 score.
Missouri State will honor its six seniors before the start of Sunday's match. Field players Meagen Good, Hillary Lawless, Catrina Schmidt and Laura Tavares have combined for 43 goals in their careers, while senior goalkeepers Andrea Bain and Katie Mulloy have 376 saves and more than 4,000 minutes in-net between them.
With a win, the Bears will tie Ball State for fifth in the Mid-American Conference standings. The Cardinals feature the conference's worst goals-against average (3.55) and scoring margin (-2.19), but are tied with Central Michigan with three shutouts. BSU is led by freshman Lexi Kavanaugh, who ranks among the MAC top-10 in goals (7) and points (14).
Sunday's match will close the season for Missouri State, as the Bears were mathematically eliminated last weekend from a spot in the MAC tournament.
The Bears defense showed marked improvement in 2013, as the squad has seen a 23 percent reduction in goals allowed per game leading up to the Ball State contest.

Field Hockey Bears Upend Ball State in Conference Opener
With the help of two goals from junior Hillary Lawless, the conference opener was a successful one for the Missouri State field hockey team, as the Bears opened Mid-American Conference play with a 4-2 win over Ball State in front of 504 fans on Saturday in Muncie, Ind.
