The Missouri State field hockey team (4-8-0 overall, 2-1-0 Mid-American Conference) will travel to Athens, Ohio on Saturday, Oct. 13 to take on the Ohio Bobcats at noon in a matchup of MAC teams.

The Bears lost to Central Michigan 4-0 on Sept. 6 at Plaster Field, which put Missouri State in a three-team tie with Miami (Ohio) and Central Michigan for first place in the MAC.

Series at a Glance

Missouri State is 9-22-1 all-time against Ohio and looks to take down the Bobcats for the first time since a 3-2 overtime win in 2009.

Ohio claimed victories in both meetings between the teams in 2011. The Bobcats defeated MSU 5-1 in Springfield on Sept. 25, and again 3-0 in Athens, Ohio on Oct. 15.

Game Notes

♦ Senior defender Reiann Stoute (7) and senior midfielder Chelsey Medlock (4) have combined for 11 defensive saves this year, more than 75 Division I field hockey teams. Medlock’s four defensive saves matches her career total coming into the 2012 season.

♦ Stoute has become a force on offense for the Bears this year. The native of Bridgetown, Barbados has already set a career high in shot attempts (20), matched a career high in assists (2) and will match her career high in points with one more goal or two more assists.

♦ Junior goalkeeper Andrea Bain ranks 37th nationally in saves per game (5.30).

♦ Ohio’s Taylor Brown ranks 39th in the country in points per game (1.62) and 40th in assists per game (0.54). The Bobcats also feature one of the nation’s best goaltenders in Brittany Walker, who ranks 20th in the nation in save percentage (.750).
