Missouri State Field Hockey Takes on Saint Louis at Home Tuesday



The Missouri State field hockey team, 4-3, will face Saint Louis University, 3-5, for the second time this season on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at Plaster field at 5 p.m.


In the earlier match-up on Sept. 5 in St. Louis, the Bears defeated the Billikens 3-2. Junior Melissa Lantz scored one of her seven total season goals against SLU. Also freshman Kristen Pettey scored her second of three goals so far, while it was the first goal for sophomore Stephanie Chase.


In the Sept. 16 STX/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, Missouri State had received 11 votes to be just out side of the poll. Other Mid-American Conference opponents who received votes were Ohio (15), Kent State (6), and Miami, Ohio (5).


The University of Iowa is Missouri State’s only opponent currently ranked in the poll at No.6.


The next STX/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll will be announced Sept. 23 at www.nfhca.org.


The Bears have two more games this weekend at home, starting conference play against Miami (OH) University on Sat. Sept. 27 and Ball State on Sun. Sept. 28. Both games are slated to start at 11 a.m.
