Northwestern too much for Field Hockey Bears, Drop MSU 4-0
ST. LOUIS - Northwestern controlled from start to finish, and the Field Hockey Bears fell 4-0 despite strong goalkeeper work from Steph Anderson and Andrea Bain. The Wildcats (4-3) fired 30 shots, 21 on goal, and scored two goals in each half, with Chelsea Armstrong leading the way with a goal and an assist on 12 shots, nine on goal. They also earned 15 penalty corners to MSU's three. Anderson (So., Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Bain (Victoria, B.C., Canada) kept the Bears (2-3) in the game. Anderson saved 10 shots through the 49th minute, allowing four goals, and Bain took it from there, keeping the Wildcats scoreless while saving seven shots. Anderson (.776) and Bain (.875) are among the MAC leaders in save percentage. But the offense could not get going, earning only four shots, one on goal. Hillary Lawless (Fr., St. Louis, Mo.) finished with two shots, with Laura Tavares (Fr., Oakville, Ontario, Canada) and Casey Bayliss (Bathurst, NSW, Australia) earning one apiece. The Bears return home Wednesday, Sept. 15, against UC Davis at Plaster Field. Start time is 4 p.m.
