Field Hockey forward named MAC offensive player of the week
 

 

 

The Mid-American Conference announced Tuesday, that junior forward Melissa Lantz was named the first 2008 season offensive player of the week.

The Wildwood, Mo., native helped the Bears in wins over Appalachian State and Robert Morris over the long weekend by scoring three goals and having two assists. She found junior Alyssa Hile to assist the game-winning overtime goal over Robert Morris.

Lantz leads the MAC in shots taken and shots per game with 10 in two games. She also leads the conference with eight total points.

Missouri State is tied for first place in the conference with Miami, who had two home wins in the first week of play. Miami’s Abbey Huck was named this week’s defensive player of the week.

The Bears travel to St. Louis to play Saint Louis University on Fri. Sept, 5, and Indiana University on Sat. Sept. 6. Both games are at 1 p.m.
