The Missouri State field hockey team was picked to finish fourth in the 2012 Mid-American Conference regular season. The Bears received 13 votes in the coaches poll.
Ohio, the reigning conference champion, was predicted to defend their title. The Bobcats received 30 points and four first-place votes. Kent State wasn't far behind in second place with 27 points. Central Michigan and Miami (Ohio) tied for third with 22 points, while Ball State (12 points) came in last.
Ohio also received the most votes (four) to win the MAC Tournament. Central Michigan and Missouri State picked up one vote apiece in that poll.
The Bears will open the 2012 season on Friday at 3 p.m. at Virginia Commonwealth.
