Field Hockey Bears' Tough Defense Not Enough To Overcome Bobcats, Fall 3-0

The Missouri State field hockey team (3-11-0, 0-7-0) dropped another conference match to the Ohio Bobcats (13-3-0, 6-0-0) in Athens, Ohio on Saturday afternoon, 3-0. The Bears fought hard on defense despite the deficit.
The Bears defensive pressure would shine through as both teams battled to a scoreless first half. MAC Defensive Player of the Week Reiann Stoute would continue to hold down the Bears' backline, racking up a defensive save. Fellow Missouri State defender Kelsey Lomax added in a defensive save of her own during the match.
Ohio would go on a streak in the second half, scoring three goals in a matter of twelve minutes. All three goals were scored off penalty corners for the Bobcats. The last goal would come in the 49th minute. Bears' goalkeepers Andrea Bain and Katie Mulloy would finish the match with four saves and two saves, respectively.
The Bears are back in action on Sunday (Oct. 16) as they face Kent State in Kent, Ohio at 1:00 p.m. Missouri State will then hit the road to St. Charles, Mo. as they take on non-conference foe Lindenwood at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 22).
