The Missouri State Lady Bears (1-6, 0-0 MVC) return to JQH Arena after nearly three weeks away Sunday at 12:05 p.m. to host Lamar (4-4) in the first of three home games in a week.
The Lady Bears have been exceptional at JQH Arena the last two-plus years, going 24-8 in their last 32 home games and scoring at least 70 points in 25 of those.
Missouri State follows the Lamar game with a Dec. 19 contest against Missouri before taking on SEMO on Dec. 21. The Mizzou game represents the last of eight consecutive games against teams that played in the postseason last year, and SEMO will be MSU’s first opponent of the season that did not win at least half of its games in 2012-13.
MSU wraps up non-conference play Dec. 29 at North Texas and begins the Missouri Valley Conference season Jan. 5 at home against Wichita State.
Missouri State and Lamar have met once previously, an 83-60 MSU win in the 2010 season opener as part of the Preseason WNIT at JQH Arena. Hannah Wilkerson scored 10 points and added two assists and two steals in just seven minutes in that game.
Lamar is 4-4 on the season and has played five games decided by eight points or less. The Lady Cardinals and their opponents have each scored 554 points this year.
LU is led by Dominique Edwards, who scores 17.8 points and grabs 9.9 rebounds per game, while guard Gia Ayers averages 14.4 points and 4.5 assists.
As a team, Lamar shoots 39.9 percent overall, 35.2 percent from the 3-point line and 62.8 percent at the charity stripe.
