St. LOUIS, Mo. -- Missouri State sophomore guard Kenzie Williams was honored as the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week Monday (Nov. 18), becoming the first Lady Bear this season to earn the league’s weekly women’s basketball honor.
Williams led the Lady Bears in scoring in all three games last week, averaging 20.3 points and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 18-for-32 (.563) overall, 5-for-9 (.556) on 3-pointers and 20-for-28 (.714) from the foul line. Two days later, Williams netted a career-high 24 points in MSU’s win over Sun Belt favorite UALR. The sophomore needed just nine field goal attempts to reach her lofty point total, going 6-for-9 overall, 3-for-5 from beyond the arc and 9-for-12 from the charity stripe.
Sunday, Williams made seven more free throws and scored 16 points at IUPUI, making half of her field goal attempts and swiping two steals from the Jaguars.
