The Missouri State Lady Bears (0-1, 0-0 MVC) play their much-anticipated home opener Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. when Sun Belt Conference favorite Arkansas-Little Rock (1-0) pays a visit to JQH Arena.
The Lady Bears have been a force at JQH over the last two seasons, posting a 23-7 record and averaging 77.5 points over their last 30 home games.
Wednesday’s game begins a stretch of eight consecutive contests against teams that played in either the NCAA Tournament, WNIT or Women’s Basketball Invitational in 2013.
Missouri State goes back on the road after Wednesday’s game, visiting IUPUI on Nov. 17 and Arkansas on Nov. 22 before returning home to face Quinnipiac at noon on the 26th for Elementary Day.
Missouri State is 9-1 all-time against Arkansas-Little Rock, with the home team winning the first nine meetings before the Lady Bears won 78-68 in Little Rock last season. The Lady Bears and Trojans have met eight times in the 2000s, with MSU going 7-1 with an average margin of victory of 23 points in those seven wins.
Arkansas-Little Rock is 1-0 on the season after defeating Sam Houston State 69-65 on Sunday. The Trojans have won six consecutive Sun Belt Conference West Division titles, and are picked to win the league this season as it transitions to a single 10-team grouping. Guards Taylor Ford and Taylor Gault are preseason all-Sun Belt selections.
