Roberson Returns to Practice Floor for Lady Bears
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Junior guard Jaleshia Roberson has re-joined the Missouri State women's basketball team in its pre-season preparations for the 2010-11 campaign.
Roberson took a leave of absence for personal reasons from the Lady Bear program in August and has missed all of MSU's pre-season workouts to date.
The Kansas City native's return gives the Lady Bears 10 letterwinners who saw action for head coach Nyla Milleson's 22-11 squad in 2009-10. Last year, Roberson earned Second-Team All-Missouri Valley Conference honors after contributing 14.2 points and 3.0 assists per game as a sophomore in helping lead the Lady Bears to their first post-season tournament berth in four years. MSU's top perimeter scoring threat, Roberson tied for fifth in the MVC scoring race and connected on 91 three-point attempts, representing the second-highest single-season total in Missouri State history.
In 62 career games over her first two seasons at MSU, Roberson has made 46 starts, averaging 11.5 points, 2.7 assists and 1.5 steals per contest.
MSU will open the 2010-11 season Nov. 12, when it hosts Lamar at JQH Arena in the opening round of the Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament. The Lady Bears kick off the exhibition season Nov. 1 with a home game against Rogers State.
