SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State basketball fans will have an opportunity to preview the Bears and Lady Bears a little earlier than usual this year.

Prior to their departure for their respective summer tours of Costa Rica, both teams will conduct open intrasquad scrimmages at JQH Arena on Saturday, Aug. 4 with the Lady Bears taking floor at 2 p.m. and the Bears at 3 p.m.  A free autograph session will follow each scrimmage.

MSU Director of Athletics Kyle Moats says the scrimmages will wrap up the additional 10 summer practices the NCAA allows teams before they embark on foreign tours.

"In lieu of that tenth and final practice, this will be a great chance for the fans to see our teams off and get to know our new players and coaches," Moats said. "This is a great time for both of our programs, and I know our players are excited to get to play at JQH Arena before they go to Costa Rica."

The Lady Bears will play three exhibition games in Costa Rica from Aug. 5-13, while the Bears will play four games during their tour, Aug. 7-13.

Admission and parking for the event are free. Basic arena services and concessions will be available in JQH Arena.
