The Missouri State Lady Bears (11-10, 3-6 MVC) begin their second trip through the Missouri Valley Conference schedule this week with home games against Bradley (7:05 p.m. Friday) and UNI (2:05 p.m. Sunday) at JQH Arena.
   Sunday's game versus UNI is the annual Play4Kay Pink Zone game, named for former North Carolina State women's coach Kay Yow, as schools across the country raise awareness for breast cancer. A summary of Sunday's activities is below.

Summary of Sunday's Play4Kay/Pink Zone Events:

  • Country artist Candy Coburn is singing the national anthem as well as performing her song Pink Warrior at halftime
  • Breast cancer survivors are invited to the JQH Arena floor for starting lineups and the halftime performance
  • A silent auction for the pink jerseys worn by the Lady Bears Sunday will take place Friday and Sunday with proceeds going to Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks
  • The BCFO will also be selling pink ribbons and collecting donations in the concourse
  • The first 500 fans in attendance Sunday receive a pink tote bag courtesy of Crighton Olive Dunn



Series Histories

Missouri State is 44-23 all-time against Bradley, including a 26-9 mark in Springfield. BU is 6-4 in the last 10 meetings and has won its last two games in Springfield.
  Missouri State owns a 46-20 lead in the series with UNI, though the Panthers are 7-3 in the last 10 meetings. MSU holds a 28-4 lead in Springfield, including an 80-68 victory last season.

First Meetings This Season
Bradley won 80-79 on Jan. 12 in Peoria on Katie Yohn's 3-pointer with 1.9 seconds remaining. The game featured 13 lead changes and nine ties, including Whitney Edie's go-ahead 3-point play with 16.9 seconds left.
  Missouri State shot 45 percent in the game to Bradley's 40 percent and out-rebounded the Braves 46-40.
  UNI defeated the Lady Bears 75-52 on Jan. 10 in Cedar Falls, hitting eleven 3-pointers in the first half and 15 for the game.
  Whitney Edie was Missouri State's only double-figure scorer with 12 points.

Scouting Bradley
Bradley is 9-11 overall and leads the MVC in scoring at 72.7 points per game.
  Four Bradley players score in double figures, led by guard Shronda Butts at 13.0 per contest, and the Braves shoot 40.7 percent from the floor, 31.0 percent on 3-pointers and 78.6 percent from the free throw line. BU allows 70.7 points per game on 41.9 percent shooting.

Scouting Northern Iowa
UNI is 10-11 overall and tied for third in MVC play at 5-4. The Panthers are led by 2011 MVC Player of the Year Jacqui Kalin, who averages 18.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game while leading the nation at 95-percent free throw shooting in her sixth year of eligibility after a knee injury kept her out last season.
  As a team, UNI scores 61.2 points and allows 62.2 while shooting 38.4 percent overall, 34.0 percent on 3-pointers and 69.5 percent from the foul line. The Panthers attempt over 42 percent of their field goals from 3-point land.
