The Missouri State Lady Bears (8-10, 3-4 MVC) will play their next four games at JQH Arena, beginning Friday at 7 p.m. when they host Evansville (7-11, 2-5). It’s Hall of Fame weekend at Missouri State, and this year’s induction class will be recognized at halftime of the UE game before being enshrined at a ceremony Saturday morning.
The Lady Bears continue the homestand Sunday at 2 p.m. against Southern Illinois, and an MSU women’s basketball alumni reunion will follow that game.
Next week, Loyola and Bradley come to town for games on Friday and Sunday, meaning MSU will take on three teams currently behind them in the league standings over the next two weeks.
The Lady Bears lead Evansville 31-10 in the all-time series, including an 18-1 record in Springfield. MSU has won nine of the last 10 meetings.
MSU leads the all-time series with SIU 43-26, including a 25-11 record in Springfield. The Lady Bears have won their last five home games against the Salukis by an average score of 78.8-63.5.
Evansville is 7-11 overall and 2-5 in MVC play and has lost its last three games. Freshman Sara Dickey averages 18.1 points to lead the MVC in scoring, while Mallory Ladd has missed the last three games but averages a double-double with 12.1 points and 10.5 boards.
As a team, Evansville averages 67.8 points and allows 69.7 while shooting 36.1 percent overall, 26.9 percent on 3-pointers and 73.0 percent from the free throw line.
Scouting Southern Illinois
Southern Illinois is 4-14 overall and 2-5 in MVC play with league wins coming against Bradley and Evansville.
Dyana Pierre leads the Salukis in scoring (14.4) and rebounding (9.4) and shoots 51 percent for the season, while Azia Washington chips in 11.2 points per game.
As a team, SIU averages 58.3 points and allows 69.9 while shooting 38.0 percent overall, 21.9 percent from beyond the arc and 64.2 percent at the free throw line.
