Jim D. Morris Basketball Complex Open House
Bears and Lady Bears fans will have the opportunity to tour the new Jim D. Morris Basketball Complex at JQH Arena on Tuesday, Jan. 7, from 4-6 p.m.
The free open house will feature light refreshments as well photo opportunities in the new locker rooms, video room, player lounges and offices. No reservations are required, and fans may enter the arena through the new Morris Basketball Complex entry on Bear Blvd.
Bears Quarterly Luncheon
Missouri State fans can now make a lunch date with MSU coaches and administrators throughout the year with the Bears Quarterly luncheon series.
The first luncheon is Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 11:30 a.m., at Trolley's Park Central Pub in downtown Springfield (214 Park Central E.), and will feature basketball head coaches Paul Lusk and Kellie Harper.
The cost of the lunch is just $10, and space is limited. Reservations may be secured by calling (417) 836-4143 or emailing email@example.com.
We Back Pat Game
The Lady Bears' game on Sunday, Jan. 5 against Wichita State is being billed as “We Back Pat" game, a national and MVC initiative to help raise Alzheimer’s awareness and support the foundation of Pat Head Summitt.
All fans are encouraged to wear orange and purple as two of Summitt’s former players -- MSU head coach Kellie Harper and WSU head coach Jody Adams -- face off for the first time.
Donations will be accepted at JQH Arena to support the foundation, and t-shirts will be sold at the BearWear Team Store at the arena. There will also be a silent auction with several Pat Summitt items up for bid.
Mediacom Joins MSU TV Network
Missouri State Athletics is proud to welcome Mediacom to its family of affiliates for the Missouri State Basketball Television Network starting this month.
The cable provider with hundreds of local franchises located througout Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Wisconsin and South Dakota, will carry seven remaining Bears and Lady Bears games this winter.
Mediacom is scheduled to air Bears' games at Bradley (Jan. 8) and at Illinois State (Feb.18), along with Lady Bears' games vs. Drake (Jan. 18), at Illinois State (Jan. 27), vs. Southern Illinois (Feb. 2), at Drake (Feb. 16) and vs. Illinois State (Feb. 23).
The MSU network also includes flagship stations KY3 and KCZ in Springfield, along with Time Warner Cable SportsChannel (Kansas City), Charter Communications (St. Louis), WRBU (St. Louis) and KZOU (Columbia). MSU Hall of Fame Weekend & Reunion
Standout student-athletes from six different sports whose careers were dotted with All-America recognition and NCAA championship competition comprise a six-member induction class for 2014 into the Missouri State University Athletics Hall of Fame. The group will take the stage as the shrine's 40th annual induction unfolds the weekend of Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
The 2014 MSU Hall of Fame induction class includes volleyball player Sabrina Apker Scifres (2002-05), baseball player Matt Cepicky (1997-99), football player Michael Fox (1989-90), track and field athlete Yves-Rose Jerome Stewart (1992-96), basketball player Tara Mitchem Glassgold (1998-01) and soccer player Mark Modersohn (1997-00). All six honorees will be in attendance for their inductions.
The new inductees will be enshrined at a ceremony to be held Saturday, Feb.1, in an 11:00 a.m. brunch in the main arena of Hammons Student Center. Inductees will also be recognized in halftime ceremonies in that weekend's Missouri State basketball games in JQH Arena. The Lady Bears will host Evansville Friday, Jan. 31, at 7:05 p.m., and the Bears will meet Bradley Saturday, Feb. 1, at 2:05 p.m.
The 2014 MSU Athletics Hall of Fame induction brunch is open to the public and reservations may be made through Monday, Jan. 27, by calling Missouri State Athletics Development (417) 836-4143. Tickets are $25 per person.
In addition, the Lady Bears' annual reunion event will take place on Sunday, Feb. 2, with all former players, managers, coaches and Fast Break Club members are invited to attend. In addition to a postgame reception at JQH Arena, all attendees will be invited to a special Jim D. Morris Basketball Complex tour prior to the game. Bradley TV Game Moved to CW
Wednesday's MSU men's basketball game at Bradley (7 p.m.) will air locally on KCZ, The Ozarks CW. The game was originally scheduled to air on KY3, but has been moved to accommodate an NBC programming conflict.
