SPRINGFIELD -- The University of Northern Iowa made a season-high 13 3-pointers Monday night to top the Missouri State Lady Bears by a 68-60 final in Missouri Valley Conference action at JQH Arena.

The Panthers (8-9, 4-2 MVC) shot 46.4 percent from beyond the arc and buried their pivotal 13th trey of the game with 1:35 remaining after the Lady Bears (7-9, 2-3) had closed to within 59-58.

Missouri State got off to a quick start with Bry Snow tallying eight early points and Hannah Wilkerson nailing a 3-pointer for a 13-7 lead just 5:05 into the game. After Desiree Phillips hit a trey for a 16-10 lead, the Panthers rattled off an 8-0 run to go up 18-16 with 11:18 left in the first half.

Two ties and two lead changes led to a 24-24 deadlock before Wilkerson’s transition layup capped an 8-0 run for the home team with the score 32-24 and 3:56 on the clock.

Missouri State held its lead early into the second half before UNI’s Amber Sorenson put the Panthers ahead for the first time in 15 minutes with a 3-pointer at the 14:14 mark, and then hit another 33 seconds later as part of a 6-for-9 showing from distance and 18 points on a 4.6 average.

Mikala McGhee answered with a 3-pointer for 46-45 before UNI scored the next five points to lead 51-45 with 10:15 remaining. Tyonna Snow pulled MSU to 51-49 with 7:45 to play, but the Panthers hit yet another triple 31 seconds later and led by at least five points until Bry Snow’s putback with 2:15 to play cut the deficit to 59-56.

Kenzie Williams followed with a steal and two free throws for 59-58 with 1:48 remaining, but UNI countered with a 3-pointer 13 seconds later to seal the game.

Bry Snow notched her first career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, but was the only Lady Bear to score in double figures as the team shot just .348 (24-69) from the floor.

Missouri State committed a season-low six turnovers and trailed 42-41 in the rebounding battle.
