Taylor Silas is a 5-10 guard/forward with outstanding touch from beyond the three-point arc. Silas will compete with her fellow freshmen for playing time on the perimeter with the ability to extend the tradition of great Lady Bear shooters.
Silas was a four-year starter and key contributor in Flushing High's four consecutive state tournament appearances. As a senior, Silas was an all-conference pick afer averaging 14.2 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 1.2 blocks per game in leading her team to a 17-3 overall record and a 13-1 conference mark, good for the Lady Raiders first conference crown in 16 years. She was named to the Flint Journal Dream Team and was a fifth-team all-state selection by the Detroit Free Press. Silas was a second-team all-conference pick and averaged 10.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game during her junior campaign and received her AAU club's Miss Blazer Award. As a sophomore, she led her team in scoring and shot 52 percent from three-point range.
The daughter of Gregory and Valerie Silas, Taylor Rene was born April 14, 1988 in Flint, Mich.
