At Missouri State
The Lady Bears' most-experienced returner, Jacque Griggs will be called upon to provide solid defense and veteran leadership off the MSU bench in her final collegiate season. A versatile athlete, Griggs's energy and all-out effort should once again give the Lady Bears an inspirational force in the paint.
Griggs saw action in 31 games off the Missouri State bench as a junior, averaging 1.4 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals per outing...Grabbed five rebounds and was 2-of-2 from the foul line in MSU's loss to Georgetown (Nov. 14) to open the season...Posted a team-high six rebounds in the Lady Bears' loss at Eastern Michigan (Nov. 29)...Registered a career-high five steals to lead the Lady Bears in a 76-60 win at SIU Edwardsville (Dec. 22)...Recorded one of her best performances of the season with a team-high four steals, four rebounds and three assists at Evansville (Jan. 30)...Notched a steal in her fourth straight game and matched a career high with three assists in MSU's 87-78 win over Drake (Feb. 7)...Pulled down five boards and recorded two steals and a pair of assists in MSU's 83-72 win over SIU (Feb. 26)...Matched a career high with three assists vs. Evansville (Feb. 28), also contributing a season-high six points and three rebounds in an 83-60 victory over the Purple Aces...Matched a season-high with six boards in 24 minutes at Bradley (March 6)...Topped the 300-career rebound mark in MSU's second-round WNIT win over Samford (March 21).
Griggs made 19 starts and shot .458 from the floor, good for second on the squad...Made a dramatic improvement at the foul line, hiking her percentage to .782 after shooting just over 50 percent from the stripe as a freshman in 2007-08...Went 2-of-2 from the floor, grabbed two boards and registered a steal in just 14 minutes of playing time in the Lady Bears' season opener at SEMO (Nov. 14)...Pulled down seven rebounds in just 12 minutes of playing time in MSU's win over Arkansas State (Nov. 23)...Connected on five field goal tries to record her second career double-figure scoring night with a 10-point, five-rebound effort vs. Oral Roberts (Nov. 26); also registered two steals and an assist in the 56-51 loss...Posted back-to-back eight-point, four-rebound performances vs. Green Bay (Dec. 3) and Western Kentucky (Dec. 7)...Was a perfect 5-of-5 from the foul line in the Lady Bears' 82-63 win over Stephen F. Austin (Dec. 19)...Turned in her best performance of the season vs. Chattanooga (Dec. 20) with a 12-point, 4-rebound, 3-assist, 3-steal effort in MSU's 77-68 win...Scored eight points, grabbed seven boards and registered a season-high four steals in MSU's 68-59 loss to Bradley (Jan. 4)...Led the Lady Bears with seven boards vs. Creighton (Jan. 8)...Led the Lady Bears in scoring for the first time in her career, finishing with 12 points on a career-best six field goals vs. Drake (Jan. 10); also paced MSU in rebounding for the third straight game, hauling in a season-high nine caroms in the Lady Bears' 56-44 setback to the Bulldogs...Grabbed six boards to share team high rebounding honors with Casey Garrison in an 83-70 setback to Illinois State (Jan. 19)...Saw her string of 16 consecutive starts come to an end vs. Creighton (Feb. 6), but came off the bench to go 3-of-3 from the floor with four boards and one block...Tallied 11 points and seven rebounds in MSU's 75-65 win over Wichita State (Feb. 21)...Led MSU in scoring and rebounding in a 69-57 win over Southern Illinois (March 1); posted a career-best 16 points to go along with eight boards and two steals.
Griggs played in all 30 contests and was the Lady Bears' fourth-leading rebounder (3.4 rpg.) as a freshman in 2007-08...Averaged 13.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 2.0 assists in MSU's two exhibition wins...Scored two points and grabbed a team-high five rebounds in her first game, a 92-55 loss at No. 22 Texas (Nov. 11)...Scored six points and grabbed six rebounds in the loss to Green Bay (Nov. 17)...Posted her first double-double as a Lady Bear with a 13-point, 12-rebound performance at UALR (Nov. 25); hit 7-of-8 free-throw attempts just one game removed from a 1-of-6 effort from the charity stripe vs. Arkansas State (Nov. 20)...Had an eight-rebound night in the Lady Bears'loss to UTSA (Nov. 29), and followed that effort by grabbing seven boards ina setbackat No. 17 DePaul (Dec. 2)...Recorded at least one assist in10 consecutive contests to close out the season,Feb. 8-March 14.
Griggs was a four-year starter and teammate of fellow Lady Bear Jaleshia Roberson at Kansas City's (Mo.) Hickman Mills High School...Capped her prep career by averaging 17 points and eight rebounds per contest en route to picking up second-team all-state honors as a senior for coach Steve Cassity...Led the Cougars to a 25-2 season in 2006-07, which culminated in a Missouri Class 5 quarterfinal appearance.
Griggs is the daughter of former Lady Bear Kimberly Scoggin-Bush, who was a three-year starter and team captain during her Missouri State career...Has one brother, Gabriel Smith...Will turn 22 during the season.
