Missouri State junior goalkeeper Alex Riggs and senior defender Johannes Demarzi were named to the NSCAA/Performance Subaru All-Midwest Region first team, it was announced today.  Junior forward Paul Paradise was also named to the third team.  Riggs, Demarzi and Paradise are the first all-region Bears since Justin Douglass and Ryan Anderson in 2006.

Rigg was named Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year by the league this season after posting eight shutouts and a 0.82 goals against average.  He was named MVC Defensive Player of the Week twice this season (Sept. 21 and Oct. 12) following the weeks he shut out conference-foe Creighton.  He is also a finalist for the Soccer News Net Player of the Year award.

Riggs was also named to the All-MVC first team along with Demarzi.  Demarzi recorded a MVC-leading 10 assists this season, all while playing the back line for the Bears.  On the defensive side of the ball, he led Missouri State to nine shutouts on the season.  He was named MVC Defensive Player of the Week this week and earned MVC Offensive Player of the Week honors twice earlier in the season (Sept. 21 and Oct. 19).

Paradise earned MVC honorable mention honors this season after scoring five goals, including two game-winners.  He also tallied two assists on the season.  Paradise received MVC Offensive Player of the Week honors and was named to the Top Drawer Soccer.com Team of the Week on Oct. 26.
