Men's Soccer Hosts Eastern Illinois in Final Conference Game
The men’s soccer team will host the Eastern Illinois Panthers on Saturday (Nov.1) in the Bears’ final conference game. The Bears enter the game ranked third in the conference with a 2-1-1 conference record.
The Bears enter the game after a disappointing 1-0 loss the UMKC Roos on Tuesday (Oct.28). Missouri State(5-7-4) is looking to bounce back big against the Panthers who enter the match last in the conference and are on a three game losing streak.
The Panthers are 0-3 in the conference and 5-8-3 overall. The Panthers are led offensively by Brad Peters who has 10 goals on the season. Defensively the Panthers are led by Mark Hansen who has 48 saves in 14 games. The Panthers are statistically almost identical to there opponents but have lost some very close games.
The Bears will be led by, two time MVC Player of The Week, goalkeeper Alex Riggs who gave up his first goal in four games against UMKC. The Bears offensive threats include a host of players who all have two or three goals on the season. The Bears have spread the ball around offensively scoring in a number of different attack formations this season. The ability to incorporate multiple players in the scoring attack makes it difficult for defenses to limit their scoring ability.
The game will be at Plaster Field in Springfield, Mo., on Saturday (Nov. 1) at 7 p.m.
