SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Missouri State men’s soccer team (7-3-2, 2-0) travels to Indiana this weekend to face conference foe Evansville (8-3-1, 1-1). MSU leads the all-time series with a record of 13-9-3, which dates back to 1994.
The Bears have shutout opponents over the last four games, including shutout victories in conference play against Loyola Chicago and Evansville.
The 2-0 start to the MVC season has propelled Missouri State to the top of the standings as the only team with two wins.
Evansville is right on the Bears tails, however, after splitting their first two conference games.
The 1-1 Purple Aces will create an interesting contrast with the Bears on Saturday. Through two conference games, Evansville leads the Missouri Valley in goals, assists, points, and shots.
On the season, Mark Gonzalez leads Evansville with seven goals, and Faik Hajderovic is the NCAA leader in assists with 14.
The Bears, through two games, lead the conference in goals allowed, goals against average, save percentage, and shutouts. Offensively, the Bears are right behind Evansville, ranking second in both shots and goals.
The Purple Aces are offering a live stream of the game, which can be purchased through the Evansville Athletics site at the link above. The cost is $6.95 for the video. Free stats will also be available as well as updates on twitter through @MSUBearsMSoccer.
The game is scheduled to kickoff at 7:00 on Saturday.
