SPRINGFIELD, Mo – The Missouri State men’s soccer team (6-3-1) will face a tough road atmosphere against Drake (5-4-2) on Saturday in Des Moines.

The conference foes each opened Missouri Valley play with a win last Saturday. Missouri State defeated Loyola Chicago 1-0 at Plaster Field, while Drake made a statement in their 4-1 victory over Evansville.

Dating back to 1990, the Bears and Bulldogs have played against each other every season and share an identical 11-11-5 record in those games.

This year’s Bears are riding a two-match win streak, both of which were shutout victories. The Bears lead the MVC with five shutouts on the season, trailed closely by Drake with four.

The two schools also rank one and two in the conference in save percentage.

With Tuesday’s win over Belmont, Emmerich Hoegg reclaimed his spot as the top Missouri State goal scorer after finding the back of the net for the third time this season.

Drake’s leading goal scorer is Danton Irelan, who has finished four times on the year.

The game is scheduled to kickoff at 7:00 p.m. at Cownie Soccer Complex. Live stats will be available through the Drake University Athletics website.
