The Bears men’s soccer team will be in action this weekend when they face the Cal Poly Mustangs in the Nike Classic in
The Bears face a 2-1-0 Mustang team that was ranked 23rd prior to its loss in the Loyola Marymount Tournament last weekend. The Bears bring a 0-3-1 regular season record into the contest after struggling on offense though their first four games. The Bears have increased their shots on net in each of their contests this season.
The Bears will conclude play at 1:30 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 14) in the Nike Classic when they face the Akron Zips in the final day of the tournament. The Zips come into the tournament ranked second in the country in division I men’s soccer with a 3-0-1 record. The Zips defeated third ranked Notre Dame and battled seventh ranked Indiana University to a 0-0 tie in double overtime in the Indiana Tournament (Sept. 29-31). The Bears will have to take their game to the next level to pressure the Zips defense that has only allowed just one goal this season.
