Missouri Valley Recognizes 135 MSU Scholar-Athletes

Becker, Karlsen, Duckworth, Scott and Beaty earn prestigious MVC President’s Council Award

2014: Played in 15 games for the Bears in his sophomore season...Appeared in both the semis and finals of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament in Peoria, Ill....Totaled three shots on the year, including a shot on goal against Memphis (Sept. 14) in the final game of the SMU Invitational in Dallas, Texas, recording a season high 22 minutes in the process.

2013: Played in 10 games as a true freshman...Cracked the starting lineup in home wins against Nebraska-Omaha (Sept. 1) and Belmont (Oct. 8)...Recorded one shot on the season, which was on target against Belmont (Oct. 8).

Background: Selected to play for the Olé Premier Football Academy, which produced former Bear Hayden Sander, also of Wellington, New Zealand...Played senior soccer for Western Suburbs in 2011 and made a number of appearances in both the Premier and Central League...With the Hutt International Boys School, he started every game as a sophomore and junior; his junior season, he was the league's leading scorer with 27 goals in 17 games...Honors include a pair of Golden Boot awards as well as Western Suburbs Club "Reserve Team MVP" and "Young Player of the Year"...Biggest sports thrill was scoring the winning goal in the 92nd minute during his debut for the Western Suburbs Capital Premier team.
