2015: Earned his collegiate debut in the Bears’ match against No. 17 New Mexico (Sept. 18), finished the season playing in 12 matches… Earned starting role at home against Eastern Illinois (Oct. 6), starting eight times in total for the Bears… Scored first career goal in MSU’s 3-0 win over Eastern Illinois (Oct. 6)… Tallied second goal of season and career at Oral Roberts (Nov. 2)… Contributed one assist to the game-winning goal against Eastern Illinois (Oct. 6).

Redshirted his first season on campus.

Laird joins the Bears as an experienced defender. The U.S. Soccer Development Academy player competed his freshman and sophomore seasons at Triad high school before playing exclusively for his Academy team, SLSG Metro. Over the course of three years with the Academy side, Laird has started 52 of 61 games. He also is a two-time Honorable Mention Mississippi Valley selection.

Personal: Jake Robert Laird is the son of Jeffrey and Donna Laird… Born in Alton, Ill. on May 24… Has one sister, Emma… Father played college soccer at McKendree… Biggest sports thrill was beating SLSG Missouri the year they went to the national championship… Graphic design major who would like to play professional soccer upon graduating from MSU.
