At Missouri State: Demarzi will look to continue his presence in the Bears' defense in 2009 after a dominant junior campaign netted him two post-season MVC honors. 2008: Demarzi was a mainstay in the Bears' lineup playing in all 22 contests with 21 starts mostly in defense. He led the Bears in total points with nine and finished in a five-way tie for leading scorer. He recorded 40 shots and three goals in victories on the season; one against Howard (10/3), the game-winner against Bradley (10/25) and one against Eastern Illinois in the opening round of the MVC tournament (11/12). After a 1-1 tie in double-overtime, Demarzi converted the final penalty kick to give the Bears the 4-1 victory over the Drake Bulldogs in the MVC Tournament (11/14). He also contributed three assists in victories against Central Arkansas (10/8), Evansville (10/15) and in the semifinals of the MVC tournament against Drake (11/14). For his efforts in 2008, Demarzi was recognized with two postseason honors. He was selected to the all-MVC second team and to the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team for his 3.42 GPA in political science. 2007: Demarzi made an immediate impact on MSU's offense, leading the team with 40 shots taken and 17 on goal while starting all 20 matches. Demarzi scored a goal in the season opener and one in each of the final four matches of the season. Demarzi used those four goals and an assist in the last four contests to climb to second on the team in scoring with 12 points on the season. Background: Demarzi played in eight matches for Cal State-Northridge in 2006 after redshirting his first season with the program. He recorded four shots in 2006 for the Matadors. In high school at Sacramento Waldorf School, Demarzi was a three-time Central Valley Christian League MVP and was a first-team all-league performer four times. For his career, Demarzi scored 123 goals, including 51 as a junior to earn first-team all-city honors as he led the Waves to league and sectional championships. Demarzi was also a three-year starter on the basketball team and a team captain on the golf team for one season. Personal: Johannes Carmelo Demarzi is the son of Alvaro and Simone Demarzi. He was born Nov. 28, 1986, in Los Angeles, Calif.
