Cooper's defensive prowess helped the Bears' defense hold opponents to 15 regular season goals, second-fewest in the MVC, and record a stretch of five consecutive shutouts in September, setting a new school record. 2004: Cooper made an immediate impression for the Bears, starting 13 of the 16 games he appeared in as a freshman. The St. Louis, Mo., native earned all-freshman honorable mention accolades from the MVC while helping MSU post an impressive 1.12 goals-against average. He posted one shot on goal for his only offensive statistic.
