Trio of MSU Men's Soccer Players Earn NSCAA Scholar All-Region Honors

Juniors Cole Alexander, Jared Gain and sophomore Andrew Riggs represented the Bears on the All-North/Central second team

2013: Played in all 18 of the Bears' matches...Awarded the Missouri Valley Conference's Elite 18 award. Modeled after the NCAA's Elite 88 award, the Elite 18 is awarded to the highest achieving participating student-athlete at all 18 of the Missouri Valley Conference Championships...Recorded the game-winning assist in double-overtime against Nebraska-Omaha (Sept. 1)...Named to the 2013 MVC Scholar-Athlete first team.

2012: Played in 15 of the Bears' 17 matches; Was in the starting lineup 11 times this season...Led the team in goals (3), points (6), shots (33), shots on goal (12) and tied for the team lead in game-winners (1)...Notched the Bears' first goal of the year against Belmont in the regular-season opener...Registered MSU's only multi-goal performance versus Eastern Illinois (Sept. 7); Scored two first-half goals against EIU to help improve the Bears' unbeaten streak to five matches...Named to the Dayton Marriott Classic all-tournament team...Was named to the Capital One Academic All-District VI first team...Also named to the 2012 MVC Scholar-Athlete team.

2011: Played in 17 of the 19 matches; Cracked the starting lineup three times: UMKC (Oct. 18), SIU Edwardsville (Oct. 30), Drake (Nov. 5)...Scored the game-winning goal in two of his three starts (UMKC, SIUE)...Also recorded a goal in the Bears' 3-0 shutout at Evansville...Finished the season tied for the most game-winners (2)...Tied for second on the team in goals scored (3) with Jordan Hoffman and Jared Gain...At the annual soccer banquet, Alexander was the recipient of the 2011 Most Improved Player award...Was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete honorable mention team for his work on the field and in the classroom.
