Men's Golf Second After First Day at Oral Roberts Invitational
 

 

 

The Missouri State men's golf team is in second place, just two strokes off the lead, after 36 holes of the Bob Hurley ORU Shootout in Tulsa, Okla.  The Bears posted 308-299--607 Monday (Sept. 28) and are breathing down the neck of leader Texas State, which shot 311-294--605, entering Tuesday's final round at the par 72, 7183-yard Golf Club of Oklahoma.

Tulsa is third in the 12-team field at 612 with UNI fourth at 614 and Sam Houston State fifth at 616.  Host Oral Roberts (621) is sixth, while Stephen F. Austin (622), Centenary (636), Louisiana-Monroe (637), Northern Illinois (638), North Dakota State (654) and Houston Baptist (674) round out the field.

Texas State's Jeff Gerlich leads the medalist race after shooting 77-69--146, two shots better than the Bears' Jay McBride, who posted 75-73--148, Kyle Robbins of Stephen F. Austin and Jordan Jeffers of Houston Baptist.

MSU's Will Hogan is tied for fifth after firing 76-73--149, while teammate Jordan McLaurin is tied for 20th with 82-73--155.  Jack Courington shot 77-82--159 for the Bears and is tied for 31st with Scott Glenn tied for 34th after shooting 80-80--160.

Tuesday's final round is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
