ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Following a stellar performance at the Weibring Intercollegiate in Normal, Ill., Missouri State men's golfer Daily Young was named Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday (Sept. 26). It marked the fifth time that Young has picked up the weekly honor in his three-year career with the Bears.
The Springfield, Mo. native fired off a 6-under-par 65 in Sunday's final round and finished the weekend second overall. His runner-up performance helped power the men's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Weibring Intercollegiate.
He ended the tournament with a 77-75-65--217, and was four stroke behind medalist Pep Angles of Central Arkansas. The 6-under-65 was Young's second-best career round, just one behind the 64 he carded last Fall at the UMKC Intercollegiate.
The senior currently ranks 15th in the MVC in scoring average with a 74.83 mark.
